How to Engage Students with Scholastic Magazines in Spanish Class

Bright colors, dramatic and relevant themes like movies, social media and music.  Kids love each issue of ¿Qué Tal?, Ahora and Sobre

Click to subscribe to a Scholastic Magazine!

Need a way to get them to read and engage with the articles beyond just flipping through the pages? Or how about an excellent sub-plan idea?

I’ve got it…..and I’m going to share it with you for FREE!!!

Spanish Customizable Graphic Organizer!

I created a graphic organizer where students choose an article and reflect on it in English or Spanish, depending on their level.

Then, working with a partner who read a different article, they ask questions and discuss the other article.

Benefits:

  • REUSE for any magazine!

  • PERFECT sub-plans! Leave a stack of the graphic organizers printed by the magazines and you’re good to go!

  • LEVEL of Spanish doesn’t matter - it works for all!

  • COGNATES guide and aid comprehension

Pro tip: If you don’t currently have a subscription and don’t have budget money, ask your librarian! There may be extra room in the library budget for magazine subscriptions.

I’d love to hear from you - let me know how it goes using this freebie!
